Veneers Case Study

Before After

Kenny is an excellent patient. He comes in regularly, follows our orders to the dot, and is very meticulous. He brushes so much and so hard that his gum has pulled away from his teeth and crowns revealing black rims at the gumlines. His biggest desire was that he wanted straight white teeth with no metal showing on his existing crowns. But he, like many Americans, was terrified of the dentist. He hates shots, especially inside his mouth.

First, we recommended our ‘one hour whitening’ to whiten his teeth. However, he could not finish the process due to sensitivity. We gave him two options to give him a perfect smile. One way was to do conventional porcelain veneers where teeth are slenderized around .5 mm to allow room for the lab to fabricate the veneers over them. (This procedure would require anesthesia.) The other way was to do Lumineers- super-thin veneers that cover teeth without the need of grinding away teeth. Due to his dislike for shots, he chose to do Lumineers instead. This was perfect for him because there was “no shot”, “no drill”, and “no pain”. Also, these specialized veneers were able to be bonded over his existing crowns. Thus, the ugly metal margins were gone. In the past, we would have to cut them off and do new ones which would require “shot and drill.” We were able to achieve this cosmetic makeover in two visits. He thanked us because he got a knock-out smile without any pain.
