Now that you’ve finished your root canal therapy and things are looking better for that wonderful smile, we thought you’d like to know something about the crowns that are considered the finishing touch to the whole process.

It’s important to keep in mind that while root canal therapy saves a tooth and restores it to health, it might be a little weak after the process without a crown to shore things up.  Think of it this way. We needed to take out the infected inside of the tooth, in much the same way as you’d strip the walls and a roof in an old house to save the structure when decay or rot set in.

The crown that you’ll be having placed on top is like a new roof and insulation on that old house—it’s put in place to cover the shell and protect it from the pressures that could otherwise fracture it when you bite into food or chew.
