An article about a cutting edge advance in dental technology was recently published in Business Insider (June 24, 2014) about future dentistry without drilling. Still in the development stage, the technique is called Electrically Accelerated and Enhanced Remineralization, and it is meant to replace drilling in treating cavities. Researchers at King’s College London created a tool that emits a small electrical current that promotes the remineralization of the tooth, driving calcium, phosphate, and other substances back into the enamel.
