There are a variety of adhesives that you can choose from. Finding out whether a gel, powder paste or pad is right for you is about experimenting and talking with us.

There are a few situations where you should not use any kind of denture adhesive. The first is if you have any open sores or cuts in your mouth. If you’ve got an allergy to any of the ingredients in the product, don’t use it.

Likewise if you’ve got a denture that hasn’t been properly fitted by a health care professional.

Adjust Your Speech

There will be an adjustment period where your speech is concerned. One of the exercises that helps things all along is singing to your favorite tunes. It’s a great way to learn how to form certain words with Orange County dentures and get comfortable with them.

Work Those Muscles

You can exercise your cheek muscles so they can help you to swallow. It’s another way to get used to your new dentures. The idea is to have more control over your diet while you are eating and wearing these appliances at first.

There is an adjustment period. In fact, the American Dental Association says most people will experience minor soreness and irritation for the first few weeks.

Adjusting Your Diet

Try adjusting your diet for that time frame and eating soft foods. Scrambled eggs and bananas as well as yogurt and mashed potatoes should be part of your menu at this time.  Cut your food into smaller pieces and chew slowly at first so your Orange County dentures don’t shift.

In no time at all, you can transition into food like cooked vegetables and pasta.
